Overview

The Laboratory Technician in the Lau Lab at Boston University will help organize and maintain a research laboratory and participate in studies focused on understanding the molecular mechanism regulating small RNA and RNAi function using genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical procedures. This includes work with Drosophila and mosquito cell systems, cell culture, transfection and gene transfer in cultured cells, DNA and RNA preparation, microscopy analysis, and protein isolation and analysis. The technician will assist with technical aspects of experiments under the direction of senior investigators and will help prepare and maintain research and laboratory materials, make observations, and assist with data analysis. Responsibilities

Organize and maintain a research laboratory and support ongoing studies related to small RNA and RNAi regulation. Perform molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemical procedures as directed. Culture Drosophila and mosquito cells, conduct transfections and gene transfer in cultured cells. Prepare DNA and RNA samples, perform microscopy analysis, and isolate and analyze proteins. Assist with experimental techniques and data analysis under supervision of senior investigators. Prepare and maintain laboratory materials and records. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience Additional Information
