Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a leading cloud computing provider serving customers from startups to Global 500 companies. AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) seeks an AWS Specialist Solutions Architect (SSA) for Amazon Connect, an AI-native contact center service. SSAs are technologists with deep domain expertise who address advanced concepts and feature designs. Working within the AWS sales organization, SSAs engage with customers facing complex challenges to craft scalable, flexible, and resilient architectures. This role may involve guiding customers through refactoring applications or designing new cloud-based systems.

WWPS serves government, education, nonprofit, and healthcare organizations. As an SSA within WWPS, you will work with U.S. Federal customers to develop bespoke solutions using Amazon Connect, alongside AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, HPC, and CloudFront, in collaboration with partners and the AWS ecosystem. Federal customers often have limited resources and unique mission challenges that require impactful digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

  • Help U.S. Federal Civilian Government organizations implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.
  • Own the technical engagement and drive the ultimate success of specific implementation projects.
  • Define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, and develop deep expertise in AWS technologies and how applications and services are built on the AWS platform.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by feeding feedback to product teams to influence feature development and the product roadmap.
  • Provide advanced technical knowledge to domain-aligned GTM teams to unblock critical customer challenges.
  • Share best practices as a thought leader through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public speaking at events like AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent.
  • Develop and support an internal AWS community of technical subject matter experts and create enablement materials for the broader SA population.

A day in the life

Solutions Architects in this team deliver technical design and thought leadership to Federal Government markets. You will collaborate with sales and business development to capture and share best-practice knowledge, learn from and educate peers, meet with customers, work with AWS product managers, build and test demonstrations and proofs of concept, and author technical content such as blogs and papers. You may also stay current on technology trends to inform partners and hands-on with AWS daily.
