January 10, 2026 Healthcare Setting:
Emergency Department (ED) Shifts:
12-hour afternoons/nights (3:30pm - 4:00am), every other weekend and major holidays required Hours per Week:
36 Unit Size:
30 beds, 14 Fast Track beds, additional hallway beds as needed Patient Volume:
120-130 patients per day (all ages, no trauma) Scrubs:
Navy blue, white, or any combination ER RN Job Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (required) Minimum 1 year of recent adult Emergency Department nursing experience (required) Experience with conscious sedation (required) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI/De-escalation certifications (required) Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided) Non-local candidates only (must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Richmond, VA) Strong clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency care environment Key Responsibilities - Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Deliver, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for ED patients Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop individualized care plans Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary hospital teams Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives Manage the physical and emotional demands of emergency nursing Collaborate with healthcare professionals and external agencies as needed Apply current emergency nursing best practices and clinical innovations Support patients and families during acute illness and emergency situations Demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and compassion in all patient interactions
