• Job Title: Travel Neuro Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical Unit)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Springfield, IL 62781
• Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Hospital
• Unit: Medical Surgical – Neuro (23-bed unit)
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (06:45 – 19:15), weekends only (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1890–$1940
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free with permit

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 1 year of recent neuro or medical-surgical nursing experience
• BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficient in PICC line management and IV starts
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with neurological and medical-surgical conditions
• Monitor and manage patients with stroke (ischemic/hemorrhagic), TIA, subdural hematoma, brain mass, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and post-surgical cases
• Administer medications including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and seizure management drugs
• Assist with special procedures such as EEG and lumbar puncture
• Start and maintain IVs, manage peripheral and PICC lines
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support hospital operations
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
