Brief Job Description
Lead advanced nursing functions and provide clinical direction in a 24-hour operation. Manage daily nursing operations, ensure adherence to Standards of Practice, promote a competent workforce, and support partnerships within the hospital and with external organizations to facilitate community involvement and awareness.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care on a 24-hour basis.
- Direct daily operations in all assigned areas; facilitate adherence to HHSC, TAC, and Board of Nursing standards.
- Provide clinical direction and ensure care is based on patient age, developmental stage, diagnoses, and needs.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and quality assurance initiatives (QAPI).
- Supervise staff; participate in budget processes and staffing planning; ensure 24/7 nursing coverage.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures; promote professional environment and staff recognition.
- Collaborate with recovery teams and external organizations; support patient-centered trauma-informed care.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement, reporting patterns in nursing care, and safety/risk management.
- Lead and participate in committees, workgroups, and multi-disciplinary initiatives as requested.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas or a state recognizing reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Initial Screening Criteria: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with nursing major or equivalent; or three years RN experience in a health care facility.
- Three (3) years RN experience in a recognized health care facility may substitute for the degree requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of Texas Nurse Practice Act and peer review processes.
- Knowledge of management theory, organizational planning, and performance improvement.
- Knowledge of the Recovery Model of Care and nursing standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, coaching ability, and teamwork orientation.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities; develop budgets; and supervise others.
- Ability to provide patient and family education; effective written and oral communication; and ability to interpret standards and regulations.
Requirements and Additional Information
- Fingerprints, background checks, drug screening, CANRS, LEIE, and other pre-employment checks may be required.
- HHS immunization policy compliance; influenza vaccination or protective measures as required.
- May require flexible hours, overtime, and extended shifts; telework eligibility subject to policy and supervision needs.

Salary information: Salary Range: $7,532.75 – $8,886.16 per month; Pay Frequency: Monthly; FLSA: Exempt.
