Position Overview
Community Guilds dba STE(A)M Truck is seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Revenue to lead our financial operations and drive our revenue generation initiatives. This strategic role combines financial management expertise with revenue development responsibilities, supporting our mission to provide innovative STEAM education through our mobile learning platform. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit financial management experience and a passion for both fiscal stewardship and revenue growth in educational outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Operations
Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting Manage day-to-day financial activities using QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions Maintain banking relationships with Truist and optimize cash management strategies Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for leadership and board review Lead annual budget development process and provide ongoing budget variance analysis Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, grant requirements, and donor restrictions Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing Manage financial aspects of grants, including tracking restricted funds and preparing grant financial reports Revenue Development & Generation
Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement comprehensive revenue generation strategies Utilize FundraiseUp platform to optimize online giving campaigns and donor engagement Manage donor database in Bloomerang, ensuring accurate donor records and gift processing Prepare financial analyses and reports to support grant applications and donor presentations Track and report on revenue metrics, ROI analysis, and campaign effectiveness Support major gift solicitations with financial projections and impact analyses Coordinate with program staff to develop compelling financial narratives for funding proposals Strategic Planning & Analysis
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making Develop financial models for program expansion, including mobile unit operations and outreach initiatives Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new programs and services Support board finance committee with meeting preparation and financial oversight Lead annual audit process and work with external auditors and tax preparers Technology & Systems Management
Maintain and optimize integration between QuickBooks Online, FundraiseUp, and Bloomerang systems Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all financial and donor management platforms Recommend and implement process improvements and system upgrades Train staff on financial systems and donor management best practices Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field Minimum 5-7 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in nonprofit sector Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and experience with nonprofit fund accounting Experience with fundraising platforms (FundraiseUp preferred) and donor management systems (Bloomerang preferred) Thorough understanding of nonprofit financial regulations, GAAP, and grant compliance requirements Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling Experience with Truist or other major banking institutions Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification or advanced degree in relevant field Previous experience in educational nonprofit or community outreach organizations Grant writing experience Experience with mobile or traveling program financial management Knowledge of STEAM education initiatives Experience with board reporting and governance Skills & Competencies
