Oncology RN Job Details

  • Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
  • Healthcare Setting: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Oncology – Mixed Acuity PCU and Medical-Surgical Unit
  • Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel RN Contract)
  • Contract Duration: 16 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/26/2026)
  • Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm / Night: 7:00pm–7:30am); flexible scheduling based on unit needs
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $2160 - $2210
  • Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
  • Unit Size: 36 beds, daily census ~33

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in medical-surgical and oncology nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license—Ohio state or compact license required
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Ability to float to other MedSurg Oncology units as needed
  • Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leadership)

Oncology RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care for oncology and bone marrow transplant patients, including autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants
  • Administer chemotherapy and blood products; manage ports, central and peripheral lines, and PICC lines
  • Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response situations
  • Implement infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
  • Document patient care using Epic EMR system
  • Support patients with diagnoses such as leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, and more
  • Participate in CAR-T therapy and stem cell therapy procedures
  • Maintain flexibility with scheduling, including weekends and rotating shifts
