Oncology RN Job Details

• Location: Greenville, NC 27834 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Cancer Center Medical Oncology Unit (48 beds)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nursing
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (with potential extension)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800 - $1840 per week
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling; 3 out of 4 holidays and 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: February 22, 2026
• RN-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4 (may flex to 1:5 or 1:6 as needed)

Oncology Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Compact RN licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• Strong oncology background and phlebotomy skills
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification preferred
• Must pass EKG and Pharmacology exams during compliance process
• Must reside outside an 80-mile radius from the facility
• All time off must be negotiated prior to confirmation
  
  

Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to adult oncology and hematology patients, including immunocompromised individuals and those with complex multi-system complications
• Administer chemotherapy and manage continuous infusion medications
• Perform pain management, wound vac dressing changes, and manage wound drains
• Care for patients with central lines, tracheotomies, and chest tubes
• Start IVs and perform peripheral and arterial blood draws
• Administer intravenous drips (cardiac, insulin, heparin) and conduct cardiac monitoring
• Analyze cardiac rhythms for assigned patients (no monitor techs on unit)
• Collaborate with ancillary staff for comprehensive clinical support
• Document all care and interventions accurately in EPIC EMR
