Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Aurora, CO 80045 (Denver metro area)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse Contract
• Unit: Surgical Oncology (Medical Surgical Oncology Unit)
• Duration: 13 weeks (September 2, 2025 – December 2, 2025)
• Shifts: Rotating Days and Nights (3x12-hour shifts/week; 07:00–19:29 and 19:00–07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2020–$2070
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Weekend Coverage: Required per unit needs
• Floating: May float to sister healthcare facilities within scope
  
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Colorado or Compact State RN license
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience (2 years preferred)
• Experience in a teaching hospital required
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Trauma Level I nursing experience required
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, including weekends
• Strong clinical skills in post-surgical care, port access, central line care, wound care, and telemetry monitoring
• Excellent communication and patient/family education abilities
• Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification not required (not administered on this unit)
  
  

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients recovering from surgical oncology procedures (abdominal, pelvic, gynecologic, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, stomach, and urology cancers)
• Monitor and manage post-operative milestones to support timely patient discharge
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Care for and manage central lines, ports, chest tubes, and tracheostomies
• Implement neutropenic and radiation safety precautions as appropriate
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, radiology, social services)
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and recovery expectations
• Float to similar medical-surgical or oncology units or sister facilities as needed
• Document all nursing care accurately in the Epic EMR system
