Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Aurora, Colorado. The RN provides specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns in a NICU, including advanced assessments, life-support equipment management, and family-centered education and support. The role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure adherence to hospital and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns; identify changes and document conditions and responses.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments following neonatal nursing techniques.
- Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized screenings.
- Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality.
- Assist with life-saving and diagnostic procedures (e.g., umbilical line placement, intubation).
- Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Adhere to infection control measures, PPE use, hand hygiene, and sterilization protocols.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other professionals to optimize outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice; follow hospital safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC).
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
