Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Unit: Pediatrics
  • Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/29/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
  • Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1610-$1730
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Float Requirement: Must be able to float to NICU and other hospital units
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
  • Charting System: Allscripts (Altera experience preferred)
  • Scrub Color: Navy
  • Orientation: 24 hours (includes modules)

Pediatric RN Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
  • Minimum 3 years of pediatric nursing experience
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • CPHON, NRP, OCN certifications preferred
  • Experience with Allscripts charting system preferred
  • Must reside at least 150 miles from facility
  • Accepts first-time travel nurses
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Pediatric Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients, including neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults
  • Administer medications, blood products, and monitor chemotherapy
  • Assist with procedures: lumbar puncture, central line care, tracheostomy management
  • Support breastfeeding and manage feedings (bottle, breast, gavage)
  • Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias; manage chest tubes and ventilator support
  • Float to NICU and other clinical units as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Allscripts EMR
  • Participate in rapid response and pediatric early warning score (PEWS) protocols
  • Provide wound care, infection prevention, and symptom management
