Pediatric RN Job Details

• Location: Sacramento, California (95816) – California nursing jobs
• Setting: Pediatric Unit (Primary); float to PICU/NICU as needed
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract (locum tenens)
• Start Date: December 8, 2025
• End Date: March 9, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (18:45 - 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Census: Average daily census of 28, 40 beds
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2050-$2190

Pediatric Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active California RN license – California RN jobs
• BLS and PALS certifications (AHA or American Red Cross)
• APHON certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with Epic charting system
• Ability to provide two professional references from the past year
• Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of signing
• Willingness to float to PICU/NICU as needed

Pediatric RN Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality care to pediatric patients in a clinical setting
• Administer blood products, monitor chemotherapy, anti-seizure medications, and insulin
• Perform pediatric dosage calculations and manage central/peripheral lines
• Support breastfeeding and feeding management (bottle, breast, gavage)
• Monitor and manage chest tubes, indwelling urinary catheters, NG tubes, and wound care
• Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Utilize Epic for charting and documentation
• Participate in Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) and Rapid Response Team activities
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV, physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to PICU/NICU units as needed
