Overview

ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job in Chicago, IL. Advance your nursing career as a Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) in Chicago, IL (60612). This high-demand healthcare role places you at a Level 1 Trauma Center, providing critical care across Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU units.

Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Prime downtown location near parks, museums, and Lake Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in multiple intensive care units.
• Monitor and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.
• Perform arterial and central line management, ventilator management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips.
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Assist with BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous IV sedation, and airway suctioning (ETT, NT).
• Utilize Cerner for electronic health record documentation.
• Follow isolation precautions and proper use of PPE.
• Float between ICU units and provide clinical support to Med-Surg units as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at submission).
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions for Flu only).
• Ability to float between ICU and Med-Surg units.
• Strong compliance and responsiveness to deadlines.

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Orientation: First week on day shift for orientation and precepting
• Floating: Between ICU units as needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service every 15 minutes

Compensation

• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,910 – $1,960 per week
