PICU RN Details

  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (locum tenens contract)
  • Healthcare Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin 54449
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $2360 - $2420
  • Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating: Required to Pediatric Unit as needed
  • Start Date: 10/27/2025
  • End Date: 1/26/2026

PICU RN Qualifications

  • Active Wisconsin RN license (Registered Nurse) at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU RN experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
  • Bedside Shift Reporting (BSSR) attestation required
  • Strong communication skills, including AIDET and excellent customer service/phone etiquette
  • Ability to float to Pediatric Units as needed
  • Compliance with healthcare facility credentialing and onboarding requirements

PICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU
  • Perform sedation, trach care, intubation, NAVA, Vapotherm, CRRT (minimal), and ICP/Bolts monitoring
  • Conduct hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting
  • Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, Foley catheters, and other specialized clinical equipment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
  • Float to pediatric units as required to support patient care
  • Maintain infection control and isolation precautions according to hospital protocols
  • Accurately document patient care using facility charting systems
