Overview

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Oncology RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Columbia, Missouri. The RN provides specialized nursing care to cancer patients in hospital and clinical settings, administers cancer treatments, manages side effects, and supports patients and families. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to confidentiality, integrity, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and families about oncology procedures and treatments, addressing concerns and fostering understanding to alleviate apprehension
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved oncology nursing techniques
• Prepare and maintain oncology-specific equipment, assisting oncologists during treatment and examinations
• Monitor patient comfort, safety, and side effects; implement interventions to enhance quality of life
• Assess and monitor patients, document conditions and responses
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes
• Respond to life-saving situations according to oncology nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
• Develop and implement individualized education plans for cancer patients and families about treatment regimens, side effect management, and self-care
• Participate in oncology quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and care delivery
• Advocate for oncology patients and support navigation of complex treatment plans
• Perform other duties within the scope of practice; adhere to safety protocols, infection control, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Required: One year of recent experience as an Oncology RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification; ACLS (AHA/ARC); other certifications and licenses may be required

• Physical ability to remain stationary and to move, lift 50-100 lbs, push/pull, and bend

• Ability to cope with high-pressure environments and manage irregular schedules; attention to detail
• Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
