Secretary I Radiology - Part Time - Day
OCEAN MEDICAL CENTER, Brick, New Jersey

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with patients and communicates with personnel from various departments and support services, as well as the public and department co-workers. Provides administrative and clerical support to the Radiology department.
  • Communication Skills: Telephones are answered in a courteous/professional manner. Accurate and complete telephone messages are taken; calls are screened and transferred to the appropriate party.
  • Pro-active role in facilitating smooth office operation. Perform duties with little or no supervision. Maintain clerical supplies and order as necessary. Demonstrate resourcefulness in completing daily tasks and special projects.
  • Greet/assist guests/customers in processing and completion of paperwork; provide complete and accurate instructions and ensure proper completion of necessary paperwork for tests.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems including hospital EMR, PACS and other network systems; ensure proper and secure use of these systems.
  • Maintain distribution of billing information and collect/forward forms to appropriate departments. Schedule appointments with appropriate clinical, demographic and financial documentation.
  • Provide clerical support and assist other team members with department needs (test ordering, result processing, copies, filing, mailing, telephone calls, film/report/CD retrieval/printing/faxing; assist with release of medical information).
  • Manage patient data and records for billing and tracking; reschedule guests/customers and maintain a cancellation system.
  • Schedule guest/customer appointments based on physician script requests, orders, and medical history; provide instructions for pre-registration and specific test preparation.
  • Maintain neat, clean work area and ensure waiting areas are properly maintained.
  • Perform daily clerical duties using EPIC, PACS, Tele Tracking System and related hospital systems; use patient scheduling and other computer systems as needed.
  • Identify patient population needs and adjust communication to age, cultural, language, hearing or visual impairments as appropriate.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned; adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Compensation

Minimum rate of $20.32 Hourly. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
