Overview

Manufacturing Engineer position for a client in ceramics/high-temperature manufacturing. Focus on designing and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce costs, lead process development, troubleshoot equipment, and support continuous improvement. Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to ensure safe and compliant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for process improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide guidance to production teams on best practices, problem-solving, and process control.
  • Support operator training on new equipment, technology, and procedures.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for ceramic forming, firing, machining, and finishing.
  • Monitor and improve kiln operations, including temperature profiles, firing cycles, and energy efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing tools, Six Sigma methodologies, and 5S workplace organization.
  • Maintain and improve process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support capital project planning, specification, and installation of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with Quality to address nonconformance issues and improve product consistency.
  • Partner with EHS to ensure processes meet safety requirements, particularly for high-temperature equipment and silica exposure control.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, reduce scrap, and increase throughput.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation for process-related issues.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in ceramics, glass, or refractory materials.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of kiln operations, process control systems, and high-temperature manufacturing.
  • Skill Set: Experience with CAD software, industrial automation, and PLC-controlled systems. Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or related field.
