Responsibilities

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
  • Effective communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Any retail experience
  • Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) to promote trust and respect among associates
  • Ability to create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products
  • Knowledge of products sold within the department and the store
  • Ability to recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials
  • Ability to check product quality, review sell-by dates and take appropriate action
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide customers with fresh products
  • Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers
  • Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
  • Notify management of accidents, safety risks and any illegal activity
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
