How You Will Make An Impact
Teaching in an online personalized instructional environment, working with students and/or parents to determine and evaluate student academic plan.
Responsibilities
- Meet California Teaching Standards/HQT/NCLB Compliance
- Adhere to attendance policies
- Keep accurate records as defined by the California Department of Education and independent auditors
- Assign an individualized course of study to students
- Monitor and document students' progress and credits
- Provide weekly communication to students and parents via phone and messages
- Grade student work within 24-48 hours of submission
- Offer written feedback on all submitted assignments
- Post motivating blogs in each course and manage class discussion boards
- Meet weekly expectations as outlined in teacher training
- Be available to students and/or parents during appointments
- Assist students in finding additional resources when necessary
- Administer Lets Go Learn Assessments to newly enrolled students and periodically update testing
- Refer students to appropriate supports (Read 180 lab, tutoring, counseling) when needed
- Schedule and meet with students monthly
- Review and evaluate homework; administer and proctor tests
- Keep student work neat and organized; close folders at end of Learning Period or upon withdrawal/graduation
- Record daily attendance; refer students to core teachers as needed
- Teach scheduled labs with approved curriculum
- Participate in or lead extracurricular activities
- Develop annual academic plans and report cards; attend graduations and required testing
- Engage in staff meetings and professional development; interact respectfully with all staff
- Communicate professionally with students and parents; maintain availability during operating hours
- Commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week / 12 months per year
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid California Teaching Credential; English Learner Authorization required
- Minimum of 2 years of verified full-time experience as a high school instructor
- Experience teaching in an online learning environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Knowledge in a variety of educational programs and in the use of standard office computer programs
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications
- Ability to learn Student Information and Learning Management Systems and other technology used by the instruction department
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and with diverse groups
- Maintain professional confidentiality and attention to detail
