AXIS Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Professional Liability / Cyber Treaty Reinsurance. This role reports to the Head of Casualty, North America AXIS Re, and involves managing a portfolio of Professional Liability / Cyber Treaty Reinsurance business, as well as other ad hoc lines of business. The Professional Liability – Cyber Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter will be highly involved with strategy and portfolio management. Overview

Originate and underwrite Professional Liability / Cyber treaty business in compliance with guidelines and within allocated authority, focusing on efficiency and best practices. Build and maintain broker and client networks to support profitable business origination through the Reinsurance broker market. Drive strategy and portfolio management, including appetite, guidelines, and limit management. Track industry and market developments and raise these for strategic discussions with clients, including a view on how AXIS Re can assist clients. Participate in underwriting audits and monitor account performance. Maintain understanding of current issues affecting the insurance and reinsurance industries with respect to Professional Liability / Cyber lines. Travel frequently to service customers and attend industry conferences. About You / Qualifications
Hands-on technical expert with a history of success within a top-tier (re)insurance carrier, focused on building a complex Professional Liability / Cyber Insurance/Reinsurance book. Deep knowledge of the professional liability and cyber insurance landscape with full life cycle portfolio management experience (solicitation of submissions, underwriting analysis, indications/quotations/binders, marketing). Executive presence with proven ability to communicate, influence, and build relationships that add value to AXIS and support long-term strategic initiatives. Willingness to bring your own experience and expertise; open to discussing how individual knowledge applies to the role. Able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences at all levels, including executive leadership. Working knowledge of actuarial and pricing concepts; experience partnering with actuarial teams to price and structure reinsurance treaties/insurance policies. Strong focus on identifying client needs and developing flexible solutions; enthusiasm for new business opportunities and creative thinking. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills; strong organizational abilities; highly collaborative and versatile. Solid understanding of policy forms, contract wording and pricing schemes; awareness of claims, actuarial, accounting and finance implications in underwriting. Excellent marketing skills to develop and maintain relationships with reinsurance intermediaries and customers. Ability to make decisions in ambiguity and changing priorities; self-starter capable of leading small projects (~6 months). Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline. Preferred qualifications
CPCU, RPLU, CPLP or other industry designations Based in the NYC area Minimum of 5 years of professional liability and/or cyber experience in insurance/reinsurance underwriting or brokering Ability to build dashboards and data models using Power BI; proficiency with Excel (LOOKUP, pivot tables, multi-data-set analysis) Strong industry relationships with re/insurance brokers and insurers; effective strategic relationship and portfolio management skills Role factors

Salary range for this position in New York is estimated at $260,000 – $290,000 base pay, with offers based on experience and location. In addition, competitive target incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are provided, including medical plans for you and your family, health and wellness programs, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, and more.
