Student Accounts Representative I (FT), CFRN33018AR The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the collections, cash receipt processes, inquiries, and cashiering functions of the College, for student and non-student accounts in the Cashiers Office.

Serve as front-line person at the Cashier's Office window, responding professionally and courteously to inquiries from students, parents, staff, and other constituents through in-person, electronic, and telephone communications.

Process daily payments for all accounts receivable invoices and miscellaneous billings for student and non-student accounts.

Reconcile daily cash receipts by validating cash, checks, wire transfers, and credit card payments against data in the Ellucian Colleague System.

Receive, review, and process petty cash requests in accordance with department and College policy.

Collect and follow up on all past due student accounts assigned prior to, during, or after graduation or withdrawal.

Act as a liaison between Accounts Receivable and internal departmental customers to ensure accurate and efficient student billing, processing non-accounts receivable deposits, posting miscellaneous fines and fees, completing tuition rebill requests, and handling student account restrictions.

Communicate and monitor student account balances and payment plan installments, and ensure accurate posting of payments, refunds, waivers, balance transfers, and adjustments.

Distribute paper refund checks, including student account refund checks, employee payroll checks, and employee reimbursements.

Assist students with understanding College payment policies, payment plans, the drop for non-payment process, IRS Form 1098-T, 529 Plans, and account balances.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

One year of experience in a general office setting or cashiering field required.

Must be computer literate, with working knowledge of Windows.

Experience in student accounts, accounts receivable or collections preferred.

Working Conditions

PC, telephone, ten key calculator, copy machine, and FAX machine.

Enclosed Cashier area.

This position requires a background check and drug screen at the expense of the college.

Hiring Range:

5 Hourly/Starting salary beginning at $18.83/hour, based on experience.

Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
