This role is located in Boston, MA (Mission Hill). The position is open to candidates with a Bachelor Degree and is in the Admin Clerical field.

Job Description INTERMEDIATE MEDICINE UNIT COORDINATOR from Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH) is advertised for the department's Unit. The unit coordinator will support the Intermediate Medicine Patient Care Team by handling communications, scheduling, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient unit operation.

Responsibilities

Answer, coordinate, and manage all unit phone calls; page and contact clinical staff as requested.

Coordinate all paperwork on the unit, including fax referrals.

Prepare and maintain patient medical records using Epic.

Schedule all patient diagnostic tests, appointments, and consults; arrange patient escort and transport services.

Coordinate all logistics of patient discharge, including family notification, transportation, equipment, prescriptions, and follow-up.

Admit, transfer, and discharge patients; ensure patient records, information, and belongings accompany transfers.

Prepare diet order sheets and submit for physician/RN approval.

Act as liaison and assist in problem solving with ancillary services and other departments affecting unit activities.

Provide backup coverage for patient transport, including escorting discharge patients/family.

Monitor and ensure Advance Care Directives are up to date in patient charts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

1-2 years of experience in a medical or customer service setting preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Computer knowledge in a Windows-based environment strongly preferred.

Epic experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.

Ability to work as a team member with a caring and collegial attitude.

Ability to work under stressful conditions with frequent interruptions, emergencies, and critical ill patients.

Ability to work independently with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions via voicemail, email, etc.

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to diverse roles within the pod-based patient care team.

Ability to provide indirect care appropriate to the patient age range on the unit (Adolescent to Geriatric).

Physical ability to sit/stand for extended periods and assist with lifting/carrying linens up to 20 lbs and patient transport.
