Software Integration and Application Engineer
– 100% Contract, 1 year with possibility of extension or conversion to career status. Payroll Title: INFO SYS ANL 3; Department: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SVCS; Worksite: Remote; Appointment Type: Contract; Appointment Percent: 100%; Union: Uncovered; Total Openings: 1; Work Schedule: 8 hrs/day; Filing Deadline: Sun 10/5/2025. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of BADG, design, develop, and maintain complex, cross‑platform software solutions that support a variety of administrative systems (e.g., Budget and Finance, Sponsored Research, Contracting, Space/Facilities, and more). Apply extensive experience with programming languages and frameworks including Java, Spring, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and complex multi‑join SQL queries. Provide technical design, integration, support, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions within defined procedures and practices. Develop and maintain data integration scripts to ensure seamless and secure data exchange between campus systems and vendor‑provided solutions. Manage software operations, ensure data security, and continually optimize application systems. Possess proficiency in application development and integration techniques with a strong understanding of SDLC and agile processes (e.g., Scrum and Kanban). Experience with SOA, Web Services, and cloud‑based platforms is beneficial. Analyze complex issues, take technical ownership of applications and integrations across the BADG portfolio, and collaborate effectively in a team environment to meet organizational goals. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Broad knowledge of various IT areas. Advanced skills in programming design, modification, and implementation; basic knowledge of secure software development; ability to create software specifications. Experience installing software and troubleshooting moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals, and software; experience troubleshooting client/server issues; incident response and digital forensics experience (data collection, examination, analysis). Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis; ability to apply technology and systems to meet business needs. Experience with database administration; working knowledge of DBMS and standards; ability to design database systems and perform advanced querying and modeling. Proficient in writing complex SQL queries with multi‑table joins, subqueries, and aggregations; experience optimizing queries for performance and scalability. Experience developing and deploying backend services that interact with databases, including RESTful APIs for data access and backend/frontend integration. Proficient in building user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., Angular or React); ability to create dynamic, responsive interfaces that integrate with backend services. Pay range: Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 – $161,600 (may be prorated for appointment percentage). Hourly equivalent: $42.15 – $77.39.
