Job Description
Insight Global is in search of OSP Construction Managers that will be responsible for overseeing all phases of fiber optic and other telecommunication network installations outside of buildings. This includes managing budgets and timelines, supervising field crews and contractors, and ensuring projects meet safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Project and budget management: Develop and manage schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for construction projects.
- Team and contractor oversight: Supervise in-house and third-party construction crews, providing direction, performance reviews, and training.
- On-site supervision: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, enforce safety standards, and perform quality control inspections.
- Problem-solving: Troubleshoot and resolve construction or design issues that arise in the field by working with engineers and contractors.
- Stakeholder coordination: Manage communication with clients, contractors, municipalities, and utility companies to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Reporting and documentation: Prepare regular project reports and maintain accurate records, including "as-built" documentation.
- Inventory management: Ensure that materials, equipment, and supplies are available when needed.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in telecommunications, outside plant construction, or a related field is often required, with leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Education: N/A
- Technical knowledge: In-depth knowledge of outside plant construction standards, fiber optics, splicing, and testing is required. Experience with both aerial and underground installation methods is a must.
- Certifications: While not always required, certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), OSHA 10 or 30, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) are beneficial.
- Software proficiency: Familiarity with project management software, GIS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is expected.
- Skills: Key competencies include strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Physical requirements: The role often involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, navigating active construction sites, and lifting moderately heavy objects. A valid driver's license is required.
Compensation:
$40/hr to $48/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
