Overview

Adjunct Faculty - Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

Working Title: Adjunct Faculty - Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. Role is part-time and paid per credit hour. Class schedule varies; telework options are subject to change based on business needs.

Must reside in the (DMV) area (DC, VA, MD).

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Essential Functions

Meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports; teach prescribed courses with established texts; adhere to professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications

KSA’s

• Ability to demonstrate HVACR theory and practical application
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to relate basic principles to students
• Ability to use instructional technology
• Ability to present course material appropriate to students’ level of learning

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in the teaching field with demonstrated competencies OR related education and/or occupational certifications with substantial related experience
• Degrees and coursework from a regionally accredited institution
• A minimum of two years of full-time related occupational experience (part-time experience converted to full-time equivalent)
• Additional experience if an associate’s degree is not possessed in the teaching field
• Valid Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Universal Certification (EPA 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, Section 608)

Additional Considerations

• Master HVAC license
• 10 years field experience
• Prior experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment
• Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds
