Summary
The Department of Computing Sciences at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position to begin August 2026. The faculty member hired will be expected to teach both required and elective courses in the Cybersecurity program at the undergraduate and graduate levels, courses in support of the Computer Information Systems, and/or Computer Science programs, engage in scholarly research leading to refereed publications in the area of specialization and actively participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service appropriate to the rank.
Job Functions
Essential Functions:
- Teach lower and upper division courses in Cybersecurity, and courses in support of the Computer Information Systems, and/or Computer Science programs, up to 18 credits per academic year. Engage with students as required by the learning process and trends in the discipline.
- Scholarly activity appropriate to the area of interest and specialization, including publication in relevant peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals.
- Service to the department, college, university, profession, and community, including membership on appropriate committees.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or Information Systems, or a closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college. ABD (all but dissertation) hires must earn their doctoral degree within six months of appointment.
- Ability to teach Cybersecurity courses at all levels and courses in support of the Computer Information Systems and/or Computer Science degree programs.
- Ability to develop and maintain an active research program. Willingness and desire to mentor students from diverse educational backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest and ability to teach classes in one or more but not limited to the following areas of Cybersecurity: Cryptography, Web security, Computer/Network Security, Information Assurance, Ethical Hacking, Incident Response, and Database security
- Ability to develop new courses in areas of specialization
- Prior teaching experience at the college level
- Demonstrated commitment to exemplary teaching
- Ability to effectively engage faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and collaborative manner
