Shift / Schedule: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday to Friday (25 Hours Per Week)
Starting Rate of Pay: $15.50 per hour
Primary Assigned Location: Depew, NY

Overview

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building and assisting with a variety of semi-skilled manual work.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and supervise the cleaning of building including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, technology, locker rooms, lobbies, lounges, corridors, elevators, stairways, storage areas, administration areas. 2039 Community Life Skills Center and other work spaces.
  • Cleaning may include, but is not limited to, removing trash, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, cleaning carpets, washing windows scrubbing floors and ceilings, and sanitizing restrooms
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs and building/facility modifications such as repairing, moving or assembling furniture; repairing custodial equipment; touch up or cover up painting; hanging teaching aids, etc. Submit maintenance request for repairs and modification requests
  • Maintain exterior of building as requested including, distribute salt, and shovel snow, clean outside doors and lighting.
  • Perform daily grounds and building inspection. Inform Custodial Supervisor of any issues.
  • Perform cleaning of restrooms to ensure health and safety standards are upheld. Follow Universal Precautions and sanitation procedures when handling cleanup of bodily fluids. Unclog plumbing and waste traps as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of custodial supplies
  • Receive, unpack, store and deliver instructional and custodial supplies to appropriate staff member or storage area.
  • Assist with staff or outside groups using the building for programs, special events or assemblies. Perform set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment; assist with training users on equipment as needed; and troubleshoot equipment problems. May lock/unlock areas for access for building use and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Custodian Supervisor or the Facilities Manager.
  • Site and Grounds Work: Assist in the clearing of snow, shovel and salt driveways, building entrances, parking lots.

Education & Training

Minimum: High school diploma

Preferred: Trade school certification; 1-2 years custodial experience; Associate’s Degree
