Overview
The North Carolina Museum of Art is seeking a Security Guard to join our team in providing security and protection to the Museum of Art facility, works of art, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
- Walking and standing for long periods of time while patrolling galleries and outdoor events.
- Providing day-to-day security and protection of the Museum of Art facility, works of art, and visitors.
- Providing security for special events that could include concerts, park festivals, and other types of programming at the museum.
- Staying within assigned area(s) and following break schedules and gallery assignments.
- Work schedule can include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime on occasions.
Position/Physical Requirements
- Typical work schedule is Wednesday – Sunday; 9:00am - 5:30pm and includes working days, nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required.
- Employee is considered essential/mandatory staff and may be required to work on adverse weather days, during emergencies, and for special events.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work environment includes indoor and outdoor conditions; ability to work in these conditions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- May require the ability to complete emergency medical technician (EMT) training and meet re-certification standards as required.
Experience & Skills (Management Preferences)
- Demonstrated experience in standard safety and security practices, including handling and reporting emergencies such as public disturbances and building malfunctions.
- Experience interacting with the public tactfully, courteously, and effectively, with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to take and follow orders and to act quickly, effectively, and responsibly in emergencies.

Compensation & Benefits
