Overview
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor -- Department of Neurobiology & Behavior, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York. Three tenure-track faculty positions to lead neuroscience research programs and participate in the Department's educational mission. One College of Arts and Sciences position at the assistant level, one at the associate/full level, and an additional open position for an assistant professor in the Renaissance School of Medicine. Closing date: Nov 30, 2025.
Responsibilities
Establish and lead innovative, laboratory-based neuroscience research programs.
Participate in the Departmental educational mission and teaching assignments.
Supervise postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students in research.
Collaborate with a broad range of faculty support and collaboration within the department.
For the associate/full professor position, demonstrate a proven track record of securing funding.
Engage with institutional strategic initiatives on aging, addiction, and neuroAI as applicable.
Qualifications
PhD or MD/PhD, or foreign equivalent degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
At least two years of postdoctoral research experience after degree.
Strong academic credentials in a specific neuroscience research field.
Teaching experience is preferred for participation in the departmental educational mission.
Additional Information
Ideal candidates will have a broad range of neuroscience expertise, including but not limited to molecular, biochemical, metabolic, genetic, synaptic physiology, pharmacology, and systems neuroscience.
New faculty will be mentored in a collaborative environment with access to state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities.
All departmental faculty are members of the Graduate Program in Neuroscience and the Medical Scientist Training Program; labs will be housed in the Life Sciences Building or the adjacent Centers for Molecular Medicine Building, depending on interests and expertise.
