Position

Academic Professional - 4 Under the direction of the Corrections Education Manager, the Pre-Trades Program Coordinator supports the Pre-Trades Construction Program at Columbia River Correctional Institution. The coordinator administers student recruitment, onboarding, and day-to-day activities of the program, and helps develop operating policies and procedures with a focus on Corrections Education and Adults in Custody (AICs) leaving the justice system. Experience in a correctional facility is preferred. This role works within correctional facilities and requires passing an Oregon Department of Corrections background check. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with some evenings to supervise classes. Responsibilities

Provide oversight and coordination of training programs, including services for students with diverse needs (e.g., limited English proficiency, first-generation students, under-prepared adults). May include directing part-time instructors, collaborating with faculty, and resolving issues among staff, partners, and students.

Develop and manage outreach and recruitment activities; provide educational advising and guidance to interested students.

Develop and modify credit and non-credit training programs, including curriculum development, assessment methods, competencies, and student evaluation. Lead in creating career pathways to improve access, completion, and workforce outcomes.

Coordinate with college career/technical programs, workforce development partners, employers, and other stakeholders to identify growing industries and opportunities.

Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure trainings meet program guidelines and the needs of targeted populations.

Collaborate with PCC areas to develop courses, new instructional methods, and career pathways.

Establish minimum entrance standards and screen applicants for eligibility.

Coordinate placement activities and post-employment/retention tracking with partners.

Build relationships with employers to facilitate unsubsidized student employment.

Obtain approval for new courses and integrate them into existing programs.

Coordinate facilities usage, class schedules, and classroom resources; procure instructional supplies.

Analyze instructional costs for budgeting and cost-effectiveness.

Participate in program planning and stay informed about industry trends; engage in professional development.

Evaluate non-credit instructors and ensure accommodations for diverse populations and student needs; obtain student feedback and address concerns.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience building and maintaining relationships with external partners.

Experience with data entry and tracking to report program outcomes.

Awareness of cultural background and its influence on leadership and practice.

Demonstrated boundary-setting and professional conduct.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, a Social Science discipline, or related field (experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis).

Two years of experience in an educational or training environment, including work with at-risk and/or culturally diverse populations and experience supervising staff.

Work Environment and Physical Characteristics

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Office environment; travel between campuses and remote sites may be required. Physical exertion is not a normal requirement. Why You’ll Love Working Here
