This position requires an employee to be onsite at 400 Wabasha Street North, St Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

Telework is available on a limited basis.

Only candidates residing in Minnesota or a state bordering Minnesota (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) within 50 miles of the work address listed above are eligible for telework.

Candidates residing in Minnesota and more than 50 miles from the primary work address may be eligible to telework more than 50%.

Candidates residing 50 miles or more from the primary work address in a state bordering Minnesota (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are not eligible to be hired, unless planning to relocate within 50 miles of the work location.

Minnesota Housing is hiring! We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Media Relations and Communications Specialist. The role provides communications expertise and consultation in the areas of communications and media relations strategy, planning, message development, and outreach. This position guides Agency leaders for events and interviews, coordinates internal and external events, captures events via photos and videos, creates video or other deliverables, and manages a digital library of photo and video assets. The role ensures communications follow Enterprise and Agency standards and related laws and rules.

Lead Agency media relations activities.

Coordinate internal and external events including capturing events with photography and videography as assigned.

Advise and assist leadership in developing speeches, presentations, briefing materials, talking points, etc., ensuring messaging aligns with Agency goals.

Create videos or other formats to illustrate the impacts of Agency programs and investments.

Develop and maintain a digital photo and video library for the Agency.

Perform other tasks that support the Agency’s mission, vision, and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional experience in developing written and visual content for a business, nonprofit or government agency.

Note:

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or English may substitute for 12 months of experience, or a Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience.

Experience working with members of the media.

Excellent skills in writing, photography and videography.

Ability to conceive, develop and deliver messages effectively through written and visual content.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with cross-cultural communication skills.

A valid driver’s license and ability to drive up to 6 hours from the Agency to capture events.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of the affordable housing industry.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English.

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or other video editing software), GovDelivery, and SharePoint.

Knowledge of maintaining a communications studio and equipment such as cameras, teleprompter, lighting, microphones, and a mult box.

Commitment to cultural responsiveness and working with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
