Note:

This position requires on-site presence at 400 Wabasha Street North, St Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity for telework.

Minnesota Housing is hiring. We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Media Relations and Communications Specialist who provides communications expertise and consultation in the areas of communications and media relations strategy, planning, message development and outreach. This position supports the media operations of the communications team, provides strategic communications guidance to Agency leaders for events and interviews, coordinates internal and external events (including capturing events via photos and videos), creates video or other deliverables illustrating the Agency’s work, and manages the digital library of photo and video assets. Communications must follow Enterprise and Agency standards and related laws and rules.

Essential Job Duties

Lead Agency media relations activities.

Coordinate internal and external events, including capturing events with photography and videography as assigned.

Advise and assist leadership in developing speeches, presentations, briefing materials, talking points, etc., ensuring messaging is clear and aligned with Agency goals.

Create videos or other communication formats to illustrate the impacts of Agency programs and investments.

Develop and maintain a digital photo and video library for the Agency.

Perform other tasks that support the Agency’s mission, vision and goals.

Minimum Qualifications To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

Three (3) years of professional experience in developing written and visual content for a business, nonprofit or government agency.

Experience working with members of the media.

Excellent skills in writing, photography and videography.

Ability to conceive, develop and deliver a desired message effectively and concisely through written and visual content.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively within deadlines.

Ability to work independently, collaboratively within a team, and communicate effectively across cultures with demonstrated cultural competency.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive up to 6 hours from the Agency to capture events and engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

General understanding of the affordable housing industry.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English.

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or other video editing software), GovDelivery, and SharePoint.

General knowledge of maintaining a communications studio and equipment (cameras, teleprompter, lighting, microphones and a mult box).
