The City of Redmond Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Recreation Coordinator to coordinate sports and fitness programs and community recreation programming and events. This position will serve as the primary coordinator for programs based at the Redmond Community Center at Marymoor Village, Old Redmond Schoolhouse, outdoor athletic fields, and gyms across the park system. This role will oversee adult sports leagues, youth sports programming, including a Youth Basketball Program, sport tournaments, fitness programs, and summer camp offerings. This position will also work with coaches (recruiting, training, support), community volunteers, sports officials, and coordinate the work of supplemental staff. They will also develop foundational sports programs that introduce participants of all levels to healthy, inclusive recreation opportunities. The schedule for this role varies with evenings and weekends required to be sure programs run smoothly. This role oversees youth basketball and seasonally (Nov-Mar) which requires a shift in schedule to Tuesday through Saturday. Program Development & Leadership

Act as the coordinator for the design, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of youth and adult sports, camps, and community programming and events. Develop inclusive and skill-building sports experiences tailored to a range of ages and abilities. Forecast, set, and track program fees and registration targets in alignment with the Cost-of-Service policy; monitor and report on performance metrics. Customize innovative trends in recreational programming aligned with departmental strategies and guidelines. Enforce program and facility policies and safety guidelines Youth Basketball Program

Plan and oversee all aspects of the City’s youth basketball league, including scheduling, volunteer coach coordination, team formation, game day logistics, referee coordination, and parent communications. Ensure coaches receive training and support to promote positive youth development. Adult Sports Leagues

Plan and oversee adult sports programming, including league management using Team Sideline software for communication, and building game schedules; ensure leagues are engaging, well-organized, and responsive to current recreation trends. Serve as primary point of contact for league operations, including addressing disputes, documenting incidents, and maintaining clear communication with officials, referees, umpires, and participants. Recruit, schedule, and train gym supervisors and support staff to foster a positive, inclusive, and fun league environment that emphasizes customer service and quality programming. Facility & Operations Management

Coordinate logistics across multiple sites, including scheduling, site set-up and breakdown, staffing, and equipment maintenance. Complete requisitions for needed equipment, maintain adequate equipment inventories. Serve as a liaison for facility-related needs such as resource availability, vendor access, and field/gym scheduling. Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Service

Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal departments, volunteers, community organizations, participants, and contractors. Maintain ongoing communication with participants and families; gather feedback to guide program improvements. Marketing, Promotion & Outreach

Collaborate with marketing staff to develop promotional materials, including social media content with a lens of how to market for our program seasons, community activities, and events. Administrative & Contract Oversight

Maintain detailed records of programs, participant data, and financial tracking. Provide contract oversight for instructors and vendors; ensure compliance with City requirements and verify documentation prior to service delivery. Assist with budget preparation and procurement processes. Leadership & Team Coordination

Assist in scheduling, training, and providing guidance to part-time staff, seasonal employees, or contract instructors. Coordinate and help mentor volunteers; ensure successful onboarding and support throughout program lifecycle. Assist with staff hiring or training processes for program areas Contribute to environment of teamwork and respect Education and Experience

Three years’ experience in program coordination and development, High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or coursework preferred Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities Licenses and Certificates
