The Clinical Research Coordinator will perform independently or with general direction at the fully operational journey level of the series to execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols, as directed by the Clinical Research Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator (PI). Incumbent may coordinate data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF and regulating agency policies. Duties may include supporting the management and coordination of single or multiple clinical research studies; acting as intermediary between services and departments while overseeing data and specimen management; managing and reporting study results; creating, cleaning, updating, and managing databases and comprehensive datasets and reports; coordinating staff work schedules, assisting with training of Assistant CRCs, and assisting the Clinical Research Supervisor and/or PI with oversight of other research staff; managing Investigators protocols in the Committee on Human Research online system (CHRS), renewals and modifications of protocol applications and implementation of new studies; participating in protocol review and writing to ensure IRB approval; ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies; overseeing study data integrity; implementing quality control procedures; interfacing with departments for UCSF approval prior to study initiation; maintaining regulatory documents; reporting study progress to investigators; participating in audits or reviews of study protocols; and performing other duties as assigned. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range depends on factors including work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. Salary range: $34.32 - $55.19 per hour. The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) is one of two cancer centers in the Bay Area designated as comprehensive by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The HDFCCC integrates laboratory research, clinical research, patient care, and population health to advance cancer outcomes, guided by precision medicine and precision population health. Required Qualifications
HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to perform the assigned duties; or equivalent experience/training. Attention to detail; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to coordinate with subjects, team members, departments, and outside institutions; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a diverse subject population. Ability to work independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of research, especially in biological sciences. Experience with computer programs (Microsoft Office; internet-based databases) and specialized software such as OnCore. Ability to sit and work at a computer for several hours per day; may travel between campuses; ability to stand for several hours. Experience in clinical research or related training that translates to a clinical research setting. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local research regulations and guidelines in clinical or laboratory settings. Ability to apply relevant information to the assessment, interpretation, and processing of medical data. Ability to independently interpret and apply policies, respond to requests, resolve issues, and provide assistance to faculty and staff at all levels in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in CHR online iMEDris system for protocol submissions, renewals, and modifications. Understanding of patient population to build rapport and set realistic expectations for participation. Experience with electronic medical records. Knowledge of location-specific and departmental policies for reimbursement, research guidelines, confidentiality and HIPAA; understanding of patient safety and confidentiality in medical records and charts. Knowledge of regulations: GCP, HIPAA, The Protection of Human Subjects, CHR recruitment and consent guidelines, cash handling procedures, EHS and Fire Safety Training. Ability to work with oncology patients. Analytical and writing skills in a science/research setting. Knowledge of clinical research in oncology and managing oncology trials. Membership in a clinical research professional society. Familiarity with medical terminology, research policies, guidelines for handling infectious substances, and data management tools (Access, Stata, SPSS, Teleform, etc.). About UCSF
