Job Title: Senior Designer
Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth global market research to analyze trends in lifestyle, innovation, merchandizing, silhouette, and color.
Develop compelling, targeted presentations for retail partners aiding them in extracting insights from global trends, pinpointing untapped market opportunities, and translating these discoveries into strategies that drive product sales volume.
Cultivate strong customer relationships through creation of meeting experiences which are both insightful and entertaining and through reliable follow-up and follow through when partnering on development.
Work cross functionally with fabric development lead, fabric sourcing and merchandizing leads to develop seasonal fabrics, conceptualize updates for ongoing programs and curate fabric assortments from mills to suit individual account needs.
Touch base regularly with other design teams to review developments, meeting outcomes, shopping findings, customer wish lists, and presentation materials, so that findings and assets can be leveraged across all accounts.
General meeting preparation - Coordinate pulling and return of garments and fabrics from NY and overseas libraries. Create category signage and other assets for organization of fabrics and garments. Research brand in-store and online assortments + pull reviews on current production. (In cases where fabric development lead is assigned to account – some of the responsibility for the fabric portion will fall on them)
Nurture the growth of students in internship program – delegate a balance of educational and practical tasks to them weekly and create educational experiences for them whenever possible.
Identify and pilot new ways of working to enhance presentations and product visualization using emerging platforms i.e. those related to 3D and AI.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associate degree in fashion design or related field preferred
4-10 years of apparel design experience with experience in women’s and men’s active/leisure or performance apparel an asset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite
Strong understanding of garment construction, fit and fabric
Experience in textile development is a great asset.
