In the role of Senior Maritime CAD/BIM Designer, we’ll count on you to:

Support our Maritime Program (nationally and internationally) in developing CAD/BIM related products, including 3D digital models, construction contract drawings, as-built record documents, reports and planning figures, graphics, and GIS‑related geo-referenced database interface models.

Demonstrate mastery with minimal direction from the Engineer or other technical professionals; apply code standard detailing requirements and develop content and nomenclature for construction notes and annotations.

Support earthwork, dredging, and construction material take-offs based on developed, accurately drawn, proportioned, and scaled 3D models.

Assimilate and manage a comprehensive project model with multi-disciplinary elements; lead generation of necessary BIM elements per the Level of Development (LOD) and Digital Delivery Plan (DDP).

Create and maintain the project model, systems, content, and digital delivery output in conformance with project standards for layering, annotation, presentation, referencing, indexing, naming, and numbering.

Proficiently use required software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit) and pursue self-learning or training to master any needed tools.

Demonstrate knowledge of structural design and detailing and understand interactions with other disciplines to meet project requirements.

Mentor and develop junior CAD/BIM specialists within the Maritime program and other disciplines as applicable.

Contribute to quality assurance, design reviews, and 3D coordination processes; perform independent QA/QC of digital design work.

Collaborate with the digital production team and leadership to assess program-wide production demands and deliver to quality, schedule, and budget.

Support HDR’s culture of employee ownership and actively participate in the office culture and cross-sector projects when available.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of a two-year associate degree in engineering technology or design and drafting technology or similar program.

Advanced proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD software.

Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation; working knowledge of Autodesk Revit BIM software.

At minimum, 15 years related industry experience, with 10 years in marine structural and port-related design.

Required Qualifications

Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 3 years digital delivery (model management) experience.

Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems.

Advanced 3D design software skills and document management infrastructure; strong 3D coordination tools.

Strong Microsoft Office and communication skills.

Familiar with industry standards, discipline codes, and specifications; basic automation and programming concepts; content creation and management.

Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for technical support.
