$136,211 – $217,960 Our client is seeking a strategic, equity-driven, and community-centered leader to serve as its next
Community Partnerships and Engagement Director . This executive role blends
grassroots advocacy ,
public policy expertise , and
authentic community engagement
to shape a more inclusive city for its residents. With a team of
31 FTEs
and a
$4.4M budget , this department builds trust between residents and government, co-creates solutions with impacted communities, and ensures that all voices — especially those historically underrepresented — have a meaningful role in the decision-making process. What You’ll Do
Lead and implement
a citywide community engagement strategy rooted in
equity, inclusion, and respect . Leverage your background in
grassroots campaigns
to
mobilize ,
empower , and
uplift community voices . Develop and influence
public policy
that reflects community input and addresses systemic inequities. Build sustainable relationships with
historically marginalized communities ,
grassroots organizations , and
civic leaders . Oversee a broad portfolio of programs that include
equity initiatives ,
public participation , and
community-centered policy development . Advise senior leadership and City Council on community needs and recommend strategic responses. Evaluate program effectiveness through
data ,
community feedback , and
measurable outcomes . Collaborate across departments to ensure policies and programs are
inclusive ,
equitable , and
accessible . Represent the department at
meetings ,
public forums ,
workshops , and
advocacy efforts . Lead a
diverse and high-performing team
with a culture of
service ,
responsiveness , and
accountability . Key Qualifications
Proven experience in
grassroots community organizing ,
advocacy campaigns , or
movement-building . Strong background in
public policy development or implementation , preferably at the
local or state level . Demonstrated success in building
authentic relationships
and
trust across lines of difference . Experience leading
community engagement initiatives
in diverse and historically underserved communities. Ability to work
collaboratively within government
while centering the needs of community members. Strong communicator with the ability to
translate complex policy
into
accessible, actionable information . Strategic thinker with a passion for
equity ,
inclusion , and
systems change . Comfortable with
public speaking ,
facilitation , and
community storytelling . Bachelor’s degree in
public administration ,
political science , or a directly related field ( required; no substitutions ). At least
10 years of progressively responsible experience
in
community engagement ,
grassroots campaigns , or
public sector work . Experience leading
teams , managing
budgets , and overseeing
cross-functional initiatives . Master’s degree in
public administration ,
policy , or a related field is
preferred . Exceptional
interpersonal ,
analytical , and
