Corporate Affairs is vital to the Girl Scout Movement’s success in delivering on its mission by stewarding brand reputation and relevancy, building engaging relationships and loyalty among internal and external audiences, and amplifying the “voice of the girl” through strategic storytelling. The department is responsible for external/internal communications, media relations, cultural assets, and government affairs (Public Policy & Advocacy). Position Summary

The Director, Movement Communications, is the day-to-day lead on all Movement Communications work at GSUSA. Movement Communications shares important news and updates with the Girl Scout movement, including the national board, council CEOs and leadership teams, and other internal partners. The goal is to keep everyone informed, aligned, and inspired, with a shared understanding of priorities and goals. The Director is a strategic creative thinker and subject matter expert with a proven track record in internal communications for a comparable organization (non-profit or for-profit). This role provides strategic counsel, planning, and execution of communications to GSUSA employees and within the Movement, in support of GSUSA’s strategic business goals, partnering with subject matter experts and colleagues across GSUSA. The position reports to the VP, Movement Communications and collaborates with the Corporate Affairs leadership team and communications subject matter experts, as well as other community leaders, including executive level leaders. Essential Responsibilities – Primary Duties Of The Position

The Director, Movement Communications manages and develops a team of communications and editorial specialists who help to effectively tell Girl Scouts’ story and communicate critical information to GSUSA staff, the National Board and the Movement. Leads the development and distribution of enterprise-wide business content, including writing, editing, and refining core messages, talking points, formal reports, internal memos, newsletters, and other formats that communicate GSUSA’s overall strategic vision and priorities to key stakeholders. Participates in developing the Movement Communications strategy in partnership with the VP. Protects our verbal and written identity with key stakeholders via essential communications channels and trainings. Refines and evolves GSUSA’s verbal and written identity to align with GSUSA’s DEI-RJ values and updated brand guidelines. Collaborates with GSUSA communities to provide strategic counsel, editorial expertise and editing support to ensure best-in-class content for stakeholders. Contributes to the development of innovative, integrated internal communications strategies, tactics, and content to support the organization’s goals with key stakeholders. Oversees the professional development of the Movement Communications Manager and new hires, in partnership with the VP; responsible for managing performance reviews. This position requires a mature, confident, results-driven mindset. The right candidate will bring demonstrated experience, initiative, and ownership of the role, and will manage and develop direct reports in partnership with the VP, Movement Communications. Individual Contributors who may have responsibility for projects or processes and who are still developing. 8+ years of internal/corporate communications experience (corporation, PR agency, nonprofit, or equivalent). Subject matter expert in internal and corporate communications across varied audiences, with judgment and expertise to tailor messaging and channels to engage, influence, and inform stakeholders. Proven track record in business writing and editing and in managing a team of writers and editors; able to create materials for newsletters, emails, reports, presentations, and meetings. Experience leading within a complex, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and executives. Knowledgeable of communications best practices and trends, including AI usage, newsletters, data-driven optimization, and alignment with GSUSA branding and messaging guidelines. Ability to connect dots between communities, initiatives, and external trends to strengthen GSUSA’s communications value for stakeholders. May manage agencies and contractors and evaluate vendor performance as appropriate. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and a customer-service mindset; able to work independently and with teams under tight deadlines. Experience with Girl Scouts movement is preferred but not mandatory. Collaborative, hands-on people management with the ability to inspire a team to deliver under tight deadlines. Ability to connect the work of branding and communications across teams and major initiatives. Demonstrates a proactive, results-oriented approach to communications needs in partnership with GSUSA and council colleagues. Required Technical Skills:

Office 365 or similar suites; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel; project management tools (e.g., Wrike or similar). Education and Experience

Degree or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum Years of Experience:

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $130,000. Actual pay will vary based on experience. What We Offer:
