Overview
Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) is a mission-driven organization with 111 local councils and USA Girl Scouts Overseas. This hybrid role is based in NYC with in-office work 2 days a week. Corporate Affairs is vital to GSUSA’s success by stewarding brand reputation, building relationships, and amplifying the "voice of the girl" through strategic storytelling. The department covers external/internal communications, media relations, cultural assets, and government affairs (Public Policy & Advocacy). Position Summary
The Director, Movement Communications, is the day-to-day lead on all Movement Communications for GSUSA. Movement Communications shares news and updates with the Girl Scout movement, including the national board, council CEOs and leadership teams, and other internal partners. The role requires strategic thinking, subject matter expertise, and experience with internal communications in a similar organization (non-profit or for-profit). This position provides strategic counsel, planning, and execution of communications to GSUSA employees and within the Movement, supporting GSUSA’s strategic business goals and collaborating with subject matter experts and colleagues across GSUSA. The position reports to the VP, Movement Communications and collaborates with the Corporate Affairs leadership team, communications subject matter experts, and executive-level leaders. Essential Responsibilities

Key responsibilities: Lead the development and distribution of enterprise-wide business content, including writing, editing, and refining core messages, talking points, formal reports, internal memos, newsletters, and other formats that communicate GSUSA’s strategic vision and priorities to key stakeholders. Contribute to Movement Communications strategy in partnership with the VP. Protect GSUSA’s verbal and written identity with executive leadership, staff, boards, council CEOs, partners/funders, and volunteers through communications channels and trainings. Refine GSUSA’s verbal and written identity to align with DEI-RJ values and updated brand guidelines. Collaborate with GSUSA communities to provide strategic counsel, editorial expertise, and editing support for best-in-class content. Contribute to the development of innovative, integrated internal communications strategies and content to support organizational goals with key stakeholders. Oversee the professional development of the Movement Communications Manager and new hires (if brought on); manage performance reviews in partnership with the VP. Demonstrate maturity, confidence, and a results-driven mindset; take initiative and own the role while developing direct reports. Other duties:

8+ years of internal/corporate communications experience in a corporation, PR agency, nonprofit, or equivalent. Subject matter expert in internal and corporate communications across varied audiences; skilled in tailoring messaging and channels to engage, inform, and influence stakeholders. Experience in business writing and editing, managing a team of writers/editors; ability to create materials for newsletters, emails, reports, and presentations. Experience in a complex, matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders, including executives. Knowledge of communications best practices and trends (e.g., AI in communications, newsletters, data analytics) and alignment with GSUSA brand guidelines. Ability to connect initiatives and external trends to strengthen GSUSA’s communications value for stakeholders. May manage agencies/contractors and evaluate performance of vendors. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and customer-service mindset; works independently and with teams to meet deadlines. Experience with Girl Scouts movement preferred but not required. Collaborative, hands-on people manager who can inspire a team to handle a demanding workload and shifting priorities. Ability to connect with direct reports, branding and communications staff, and cross-functional teams. Required Technical Skills

Degree or Equivalent Experience:

Salary Range:
$80,000 - $130,000 This represents the present low and high end of the pay range. Actual pay varies based on experience and other factors. What We Offer:
