Overview

As the Marketing Manager for Backpacker’s Pantry and Astronaut Foods, you will lead the development and execution of both brands’ marketing strategies, driving the vision for how our brands show up across digital, social, retail, and events. Your work will bring the brands’ unique stories to life, creating meaningful connections with new and loyal customers, while driving customer engagement and enhancing our market presence. You’ll take ownership of campaigns from concept to execution, working cross-functionally with internal teams, external agencies, and partners to bring our marketing initiatives to life. A key part of your role will be overseeing brand messaging to ensure consistency across all channels and touch points. You’ll also help drive innovation in how we connect with our audience, whether through impactful storytelling, new product launches, or other initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to amplify brand positioning, increase visibility, and strengthen customer loyalty.
  • Oversee social media strategy and execution, including content creation, scheduling, community management, and analytics.
  • Develop successful influencer and affiliate programs to grow brand awareness.
  • Drive storytelling efforts through compelling content that resonates with our core customers and engages new audiences.
  • Build tactical marketing plans to support new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and promotional initiatives.
  • Establish a field marketing calendar to grow awareness through in-person activations, ambassador relationships, and events.
  • Create and manage the annual marketing calendar, budget, and forecast, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet business goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to execute cohesive campaigns and creative initiatives.
  • Manage email and SMS marketing programs to increase customer retention and engagement.
  • Partner with eCommerce team to support Amazon and DTC marketing efforts.
  • Assist Sales team in the creation of trade marketing assets.
  • Analyze marketing performance data to assess ROI and optimize campaigns for better results.
  • Cultivate partnerships and sponsorships with outdoor organizations, educational programs, and other communities aligned with our brands.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience, preferably in the outdoor or consumer packaged goods industries.
  • Proven success in leading brand marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, content creation, and analytics tools.
  • Exceptional copywriting and storytelling skills, with an ability to craft compelling and on-brand content.
  • Experience working with and managing agency partners, including PR, creative, and digital agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Will ingness to travel for field marketing events, trade shows, and activations.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Natural storyteller and creative thinker who loves connecting with people through authentic and engaging content.
  • Ability to work from our Boulder office four days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays).

  • Salary: $80,000 - $90,000/year, based on experience
  • Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
