Position
Full responsibility for Human Resources management of the Denison, TX facility, along with planning and administering company policies relating to all phases of human resources activity. This includes achieving key performance indicators to maintain high standards of employee relations, quality, efficiency, safety, cost and compliance; implementing policies and procedures and upholding Ruiz Foods Company values; training and developing leadership and HR subordinates; supervising in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws; recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Also participates as a key company representative with the Denison community together with the Director of Operations.
Compensation
COMPENSATION: $110,000 - $130,000/Year DOE
Responsibilities
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions through state and local efforts such as job fairs, state offered programs, military out-placement, etc.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance, personnel transactions (hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations) and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
- Raises employee engagement by training the leadership team on current tools, owning communication tools such as newsletters, and driving engagement through functions like Birthday Clubs and Roundtable discussions with the Plant Manager / Director of Operations and HR team.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Administers performance review and salary administration programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
- Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, PTO, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
- Investigates accidents and prepares reports for the insurance carrier.
- Conducts wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rates.
- Supports payroll functions and prepares HR-related budgets.
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Supports employee and community relations activities with internal teams and external organizations (such as United Way, local Chamber, local colleges).
- Represents the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services (canteen, transportation, relocation, etc.).
- Directly supervises employees in the Human Resources office and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Maintains excellent team member relations.
- Reports directly to the Sr. Vice President of Administration and has a dotted line to the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Masters in Human Resources preferred; 10 years minimum HR-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication and present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
- SHRM certification preferred; proven leadership in HR and community efforts such as civic clubs, HR associations, educational institutions, local chamber of commerce, etc.
Education
- Required: Bachelors
- Preferred: Masters
Experience
- Required: 10 years of HR-related experience
- Preferred: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or similar
