Location: The position is permanent. Open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. Preference for Central or Eastern Time Zone; other U.S. regions and international locations may be considered. Travel up to 40% of the time (domestic and international). What you will be doing
Lead and drive Wärtsilä\'s Energy Business sales operations across the Northern region, developing strategic customer relationships and delivering growth. Own the New Build Sales function for Engine Power Plants across the region, identify opportunities, build client relationships, and secure new business. Report to the Energy Business Director for the region and collaborate to execute strategic initiatives and long-term growth. Shape market presence and drive sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving energy landscape; influence energy transition in a key global market. Lead the sales function, set strategic direction, and drive performance to meet targets. Oversee large-scale sales projects, ensuring cross-functional alignment with business objectives. Develop and implement regional sales strategies and policies; manage sales expansion, product introductions, services sales, and customer lifecycle management. Monitor sales performance metrics (e.g., Order Intake, Margin) and provide rolling five-quarter forecasts. Mentor and develop the sales team; collaborate with cross-functional teams (Growth & Development, Services Sales) and use analytics/market insights to improve effectiveness. Manage budgeting and resource allocation within the sales function. Develop thought leadership and participate in speaking engagements. Qualifications
Education Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Energy Systems, or related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in sales, business development, or commercial operations within the energy or power generation sector. Proven track record in OEM sales, including order intake, margin management, and contract negotiation. Experience managing and developing high-performing sales teams across diverse geographies. Demonstrated success in customer relationship management and lifecycle engagement strategies. Skills Strategic & Commercial Acumen: strategic planning, market development, risk/reward contracting, sales forecasting, business case development, margin optimization. Sales & Customer Engagement: New Build sales leadership in energy, customer lifecycle management, CRM proficiency, negotiation and deal-closing expertise. Leadership & Team Development: team leadership, coaching, cross-functional collaboration, change management. Analytical & Operational: market trend analysis, data-driven decision-making, contract risk assessment, sales metrics and reporting. Personal Attributes: visionary, customer-centric, collaborative, resilient, ethical, decisive, empowering, innovative.
