Data Architect

This position is onsite in New Orleans, LA. The client is seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to lead backend data strategy and ensure long-term sustainability of its cloud-based data environment. Responsibilities include: Evaluating and responding to quarterly Oracle updates and patches Collaborating with cybersecurity, operations, and technical architecture teams Maintaining and improving cloud suite performance You will help build a modern, cloud-first IT landscape supporting 580,000 natural gas customers across Louisiana and Mississippi. This role will be responsible for designing and maintaining an enterprise data architecture that optimizes the Oracle Utilities cloud suite (ERP, CCS, WACS, HCM, OFS) and integrates additional enterprise and external data sources. The ideal candidate will develop scalable, secure data solutions aligned with company standards, guiding pillars: reliability, performance, cost optimization, security, and operational efficiency. Strong technical expertise and communication skills are essential to align business, security, and operational goals. Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 7+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles Experience in utilities, energy, or asset-intensive industries strongly preferred Expertise in Oracle Database and SQL (data modeling, complex queries, performance tuning) Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data platforms Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for data governance Proven ability to design data warehouses/lakes and ETL/ELT pipelines Strong data modeling skills (relational and dimensional) Experience integrating SaaS applications (Oracle Utilities or similar) Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance standards Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Certifications nice to have include Azure Solutions Architect, Oracle Database certifications, and DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
