Senior Manager - Strategy and Advanced Analytics. Base pay range: $137,275.00/yr - $178,670.00/yr. United's Digital Technology team designs, develops and maintains scalable technology solutions with data analytics, innovative architectures, and digital solutions to support the business. Responsibilities
Manage the development and implementation of projects that apply industrial engineering, operations research, statistical and machine learning techniques and involve team members across all data analytics areas, vendors and external partners to solve critical business problems. Activities include leveraging big data and developing mathematical models and analytical tools to provide decision-making support or complex technical functions such as employee and aircraft scheduling, manpower planning, inventory management, supply chain management and real-time asset deployment. Engage with partner organizations and other stakeholders to identify business value, drive consensus around project scope, value, delivery timelines, and follow-on work, if any. Lead a team, train, develop, and mentor analysts across the analytics team; manage the work of a small team of individuals who design and/or implement mathematical models with a focus on locating opportunities and delivering value. Ensure a high level of technical skills within the team for one or more of the following areas: optimization modeling tools (e.g., CPLEX, OPL), statistical modeling tools (e.g., SAS, R), ML/AI toolkits and programming (e.g., Python), or BI tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau). Liaise with Digital Technology to partner on technology solutions as applicable and collaborate with partner teams to identify initiatives and develop advanced analytic solutions. Be a thought partner to partner teams, creating a competitive advantage through analytics; be accountable for deliverables by balancing project scope, time, and quality. Lead status meetings and manage frequent communications to key stakeholders, including presentations with emphasis on visualization, quality, and timeliness. Perform ad-hoc analyses as needed. What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., operations research, statistics, engineering, analytics) 7+ years of relevant experience At least one year of project lead experience Project management experience At least one year in a supervisory role preferred Strong passion to solve business problems with data Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Experience analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data from various sources Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities quickly and effectively Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and adapt to changing business needs Self-motivated and proactive in seeking answers Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, and project planning skills Strong analytical ability and proactive thinking to provide value-add client solutions Ability to influence business strategy and maintain a pipeline of potential engagements Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship Successful completion of interview required Reliable, punctual attendance Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or advanced degree in a related quantitative field 5+ years of progressive quantitative/analytical experience 3+ years of airline business experience preferred Experience with Big Data ecosystems and languages (SQL, Python, etc.) preferred Experience in optimization modeling, statistical modeling, or ML/AI preferred Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau; Spotfire experience preferred Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $137,275.00 to $178,670.00. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
