Overview

The Department of Housing is seeking a Project Coordinator in its Housing and Community Development Division to manage property development and capital improvement projects. The position is responsible for performing the full range of project development and coordination work—from initial project definition and budgeting through construction, completion, and the warranty period. The Department is seeking qualified self-motivated applicants with knowledge of housing and community development, including laws and regulations, property development, financing, and budgeting. Candidates should have knowledge of housing regulations, property development, financing, and budgeting, along with strong skills in planning, coordination, communication, and collaboration with colleagues, partners and community agencies. Responsibilities

Coordinating procurement, contracts, budgets, and progress reports for housing projects. Overseeing project management activities such as payments, change orders, and contract administration to ensure compliance with schedules and funding requirements. Supporting housing planning efforts, including feasibility studies, land acquisition, and financing preparation, while engaging with private developers on affordable housing requirements. Reviewing permit applications and environmental documents to support project development. Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications; however, comparable training and experience may be considered as a substitution. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, urban planning, engineering, or a related field. Four (4) years of professional experience which shall have demonstrated a working knowledge of property development activities. Strong oral and writing skills are required. Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license (equivalent to state of Hawaii Type 3). Knowledge of:

Housing and/or community development project coordination, feasibility analysis, coordination of financing and administration of engineering and other contractual requirements; Federal, State and County laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing public housing; property development; public and private financing; principles, methods and techniques which apply to housing management; research methods and techniques; governmental finance administration and budgeting; and report writing. Ability to:

Read, comprehend, interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to housing and/or community development; plan, organize and coordinate work; obtain and analyze data; maintain records; present ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, orally and in writing; deal tactfully and effectively with others. Salary Range:

$72,000 to $82,000 annually How to Apply
