Head of Retail Technology
to lead the strategy, modernization, and delivery of systems that power the omnichannel business for a major retailer. This leader will oversee the technology that is paramount to the company—the store technology, ecommerce platforms, merchandising and supply chain systems, and enterprise applications—ensuring that every channel is connected, seamless, and future-ready. The ideal candidate is a
retail-savvy technology leader
with experience spanning
store systems, merchandising applications, ecommerce, and supply chain technology . You combine technical depth with business acumen, and you thrive at the intersection of strategy, execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy:
Define and execute the roadmap for retail technology, aligning with overall enterprise and merchandising priorities. Retail Systems Leadership:
Oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of POS, merchandising, planning, PLM, supply chain, and ecommerce systems. Omnichannel Integration:
Partner with merchandising, store operations, and supply chain leaders to enable real-time inventory visibility, seamless cross-channel experiences, and improved decision-making. Enterprise Transformation:
Assess current platforms and integrations, identify gaps, and lead modernization initiatives including system upgrades, cloud migrations, and API-driven connectivity. Team & Talent Leadership:
Build, coach, and inspire high-performing engineering and application development teams across multiple domains. Innovation & Modernization:
Introduce emerging technologies such as AI, cloud-native services, and automation to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. Vendor & Partner Management:
Oversee relationships with platform providers and system integrators (SAP, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, Salesforce Commerce, Workday, etc.), ensuring value and innovation. Governance & Compliance:
Ensure that systems meet enterprise architecture, security, regulatory, and governance standards. Change Leadership:
Lead adoption of new platforms and tools across the organization through communication, training, and alignment with business stakeholders. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred. Extensive experience leading
retail technology
or
omnichannel systems
in a large-scale retail or consumer-focused organization. Proven track record in
application development, enterprise platforms, and store systems
leadership. Deep understanding of retail processes: merchandising, planning, supply chain, and store operations. Hands-on familiarity with major retail technology platforms such as
SAP, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder, Anaplan, Workday, Salesforce Commerce , and modern POS systems. Experience with
cloud platforms, APIs, and modern application development/integration practices. Demonstrated ability to lead
enterprise-scale technology transformations
and deliver measurable business outcomes. Strong leadership, vendor management, and cross-functional partnership skills.
