Overview
Volo Sports is seeking a commercially-minded General Manager to own end-to-end on-site sports and facility operations, sales & facility activation, and customer experience across 3 Club Volo sports facility complexes in Denver, CO. The role focuses initially on launching Volo Sports Arena and delivering a best-in-class sports product while driving growth and profitability at the newest facility. The GM will oversee the Volo Sports Arena and South Broadway Club Volo P&Ls and drive decision making across venue operations, revenue generation, and on-site customer experience. The ideal candidate combines a passion for sports and high-end hospitality with strong business acumen to ensure seamless day-to-day operations and long-term growth through customer success, loyalty, sponsorships, and partnerships in the Denver market.
This role requires entrepreneurial leadership and the ability to manage customer and partner relations, back-office functions (facility & contract management, vendor relations), and collaboration with Volo’s Real Estate construction team. The GM will liaise with Denver City Operations and the City-level GM to optimize facility utilization and support growth across the Denver market.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operational Leadership: provide day-to-day oversight of operations, ensuring excellence in sports programming and hospitality services.
Collaborate with local City team and national team to implement scheduling, staffing, and inventory systems.
Develop and implement Club Volo brand standards across customer services, facility maintenance, food & beverage (as applicable), and event management.
Foster a culture of exceptional customer service and memorable experiences for players, guests, and corporate partners.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal, and licensing requirements.
Financial & Revenue Management: own and manage the full facility P&L to drive profitability and long-term financial sustainability.
Lead revenue initiatives including programming, tournaments, daily play, third-party events, memberships, sponsorships, and F&B (as applicable).
Develop pricing strategies, promotions, and partnerships to maximize utilization and yield.
Analyze financial results and KPIs to identify growth and cost optimization opportunities.
Optimize revenue per court and event space, expanding utilization to non-traditional events (birthdays, corporate events, local markets, etc.).
Sales, Site Activation, and Business Development / Partnerships: drive top-line revenue through tournaments, group and individual rentals, memberships, events, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Build relationships with local businesses, sponsors, vendors, and community partners to drive engagement and revenue.
Develop market-specific activation plans with the marketing team to create buzz and maximize utilization.
Lead negotiations and manage contracts with vendors, sponsors, event organizers, and service providers.
Identify new business lines or enhancements to position the venue as a market leader.
People & Culture: lead, coach, and develop a diverse team across operations, guest services, sales, and events; promote a positive, performance-driven culture; implement training to elevate service standards.
Project & Construction Oversight: collaborate with the Real Estate team on capital projects, renovations, and construction; coordinate with architects, contractors, and maintenance teams; ensure contracts are executed and vendor performance meets standards.
What We're Looking For
8-10+ years in operations, hospitality, experiential marketing, sports/fitness, or entertainment venues, with at least 3 years in a senior P&L leadership role.
Experience managing multi-use recreational facilities or large-scale spaces; knowledge of sports programming is a plus.
Customer-centric with a commitment to operational excellence and guest safety.
Experience with full P&L management and budgets of $1M+.
Sales, partnership, and revenue optimization mindset with a strong local network.
Ability to launch and operate new business units or locations; entrepreneurial, adaptable, proactive.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
