Overview Business Intelligence Developer, I - IS Dept Apps and Ent Rptg - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Keck Medicine of USC – Hospital, Los Angeles, California

Under the supervision of the department leader and/or seasoned developers, this role will develop and test, implement business intelligence solutions for various Keck Medicine departments. The position serves as the subject expert for dashboards, identifies and documents information technology design specifications based on user needs, and performs need-gap analyses. Responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, maintaining system security, and extracting, analyzing, and transforming data. The BI Developer I understands the functional workflows and processes of the supported departments and leverages USC technologies including but not limited to QlikView, Cerner Command Language (CCL), Hadoop, and RDBMS. The role applies learned skills to problem resolution across integrated platforms, systems, processes, and departments and supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC.

Responsibilities

Dashboard: Apply SDLC methodology to develop, test, and deploy enterprise dashboards promptly.

Documentation: Prepare documentation related to dashboards and reports (e.g., FRD). Draft a mock-up data visualization before starting the dashboard.

Reporting: Generate ad-hoc and routine reports and data dumps for further consumption.

Priority Management: Manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines. Work is highly technical and requires collaboration across groups; the ability to work independently is required.

Customer Service: Address customer questions and enhancement requests, communicate effectively, handle tickets politely and efficiently, and maintain a professional image. Customers may include internal users, vendors, and peers within IS.

Other Duties and On-Call: Fulfill on-call requirements and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1 to 2 years of relevant experience including dashboards/BI reporting design, documentation, maintenance, implementation, upgrades, and troubleshooting, with at least 6 months of QlikView and QlikSense experience. If no Bachelor’s degree, 5 years of relevant business or IT support experience is required.

Experience with Structured Query Language (MS SQL Server, Oracle).

Hands-on expertise with database services.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities in a rapidly changing environment.

Strong customer service focus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Analytical ability to solve technical or administrative problems, assess feasibility, and estimate time for system changes.

Thorough documentation skills.

Experience with database systems and system design, capacity planning, and capacity management.

Ability to communicate the impact and solutions of problems in business language.

Professional demeanor in all situations.

Ability to work any hours to support 24/7 operations.

Ability to resolve problems by completing work or gathering resources for resolution and continuity of problem management.

Availability to travel between Keck Medicine of USC, USC, and other facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with other BI tools: Tableau, Power BI, etc.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card on hire, obtain within 30 days and maintain renewal as required (LA City only).

Hourly rate range: $46.00 – $76.07. Offers consider scope of position, candidate experience, education, skills, internal equity, legal requirements, funding, and market factors.
