Mastercard’s North America (NAM) Small Business segment focuses on addressing the needs of small businesses through innovative card-based solutions and partnerships. The NAM Small Business core includes debit, prepaid, and credit card solutions. The Director will lead US Small Business Debit, Prepaid, and Partnerships, owning day-to-day product operations and merchant partnerships for these core products. Responsibilities
Drive growth for US Small Business Debit and Prepaid through the development of a core product roadmap that delivers against targets, evolves the product line, and meets small business needs. Own day-to-day operations of debit and prepaid, including card value propositions, and participate in business development and new product launches with Mastercard issuers, alternative distribution partners, and fintech customers. Partner with NAM small business product team to articulate and execute the SMB narrative and strategy, including merchant benefit partnerships. Leverage Beyond Card capabilities to develop value for issuers and businesses and grow the small business book. Oversee merchant partnerships: negotiate, launch, and manage benefits on core cards; maintain a pipeline of prospective merchant partners. Lead the merchant benefit strategy for the short and longer term, monitoring competitive trends and identifying good partnership candidates. Merchant Benefit Partnerships
Oversee card benefit partnerships for small business cards with cross-functional team support. Lead merchant negotiations for prospective and renewing benefits; drive deals from concept to completion. Develop and implement business cases for benefits or enhancements. Monitor and maintain a pipeline of merchant partners. Qualifications
Expertise in U.S. Payments & Debit Ecosystem; knowledge of Single/Dual Message flows, interchange structures; prepaid knowledge a plus. Minimum 2 years in negotiating with third-party partners, including consumer-facing deal contracts and ongoing relationship management. Minimum 5 years in product management, strategy, consulting, or related field in payments. Strong analytical skills with Excel and PowerPoint for data modeling and storytelling. Familiarity with payment regulations, interchange pricing, and issuer processing. Mid-to-senior level collaboration and communication skills to influence stakeholders across functions. Self-starter with ownership mindset; ability to manage multiple projects and drive results. Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or graduate degree preferred. Pay and Benefits
