(HGCDC) and Helen Gordon Infant/Toddler Center (HGITC) are full-day programs serving children aged six weeks to five years. Located on the PSU campus in downtown Portland, these centers support observation, practice, and research in Early Childhood Education, Child, Youth and Family Studies, psychology, and related fields. HGCDC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Responsibilities

The Transition Program Coordinator assists the HGCDC Director in providing overall program administration and leadership for the Helen Gordon Child Development Center and is responsible for the overall philosophy and pedagogical coordination of the Center’s program for 2–3-year-olds.

Minimum Qualifications

B.A. in Child Development, Human Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field. 5 years of full-time, lead teaching experience, preferably in an accredited child development setting. Thorough knowledge and understanding of child development. Knowledge of early childhood education theory and practice; demonstrated ability to apply theory to practice. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

M.A. in Early Childhood Education or related field. Familiarity with RIE and Reggio strategies for working with children under 3 years.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting annual salary will be between $49,140 and $57,636, with potential for negotiation above this range depending on experience and other factors. PSU offers an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid health care, retirement and vacation benefits, and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at Oregon University System schools.
